Il corpo dell’anima (1999)

An arresting experiment in cool eroticism which mixes moral tales with melodrama. The main character, a retired screenwriter is seeking inspiration for his next script when Luana, an uninhibited young girl enters his life and with her vitality upsets his daily routine. There are shades
of Bunuel’s Tristana and also Lolita in the relationship across the generations. Perhaps Piscicelli is trying to say that the objects of desire may change and become old – but love doesn’t. The film evokes curiosity but it also has a sense of humour and astutely blends its themes.
