Is it hard to get it up and keep it up during filming? Does a man’s size make a difference? Did you ever wonder what it is like to make an adult movie? Behind the Scenes of an Adult Movie is obviously a behind the scenes look at the porn industry in America. You’ll see the people behind and in front of the cameras while filming an X-rated motion picture, a rarely seen real life event. This show was videotaped entirely on shooting locations, recording not only while the film cameras were rolling but also, and especially, in between takes. Thus were captured on video such moments as actors trying to get it up, preparation for wet shots and numerous indescribable events. This never seen before material is intercut with in-depth interviews, with psychiatrists and the many actors and actresses participating in the filming. Some of the topics covered on the interviews are society’s reaction to porn performers, opinions towards intensity in films, bisexuality, the importance of size, orgasms off and on screen and some of the better sex scenes ever shot in adult movies. It also features some hardcore footage taken from some of the films in question. The film features a corny voice-over which adds to the tackiness but is not really necessary and dates the film a bit. Some of the cast interviewed include: Veronica Hart, Ron Jeremy, Herschell Savage, Georgina Spelvin and John Leslie amongst many others. The interviews are quite interesting but a little obvious; some of the questioning stops just short of: “what’s a nice girl like you doing in an industry like this?”. The behind the scenes footage is nothing special, either consisting of actors sitting around or trying to film a sex scene. The hardcore scenes inserted into the documentary are from classics of the 80’s and often show whole scenes with all the hardcore intact. This is were the documentary excels, other documentaries about porn stop short of showing the most explicit shots this one doesn’t.
VCX has re-released a documentary, Behind the Scenes of an Adult Movie in standard frame format with narration, interviews and a bunch of scenes from classic triple xxx films of the late 1970s and the early 1980s. In a certain sense, Behind the Scenes serves as an introduction to the classic title Expose Me Now (1982) as this disc includes the shooting of some of those scenes and some casting and preparation for that film. Many cast members from that film are all on hand for interviews: Ron Jeremy, Hershel Savage, Don Fernando, K. C. Valentine, and a topless Brooke Bennett, showing off her tremendous natural boobs.The most interesting bit about the making of Expose Me Now occurs when a first timer can’t get a hard on for his scene with Danielle. The filmmakers shoot the scene anyway but in a simulated, soft core sense, with the intention of inserting hardcore footage into the final scene that appears in the film. In this case, after a lunch break, the director brings in Richard Pacheco and re-shoots an entirely new scene. The finished product is included in the documentary. Ron Jeremy also interviews Samantha Fox and Veronica Hart, who, by now, have opinions of the porn industry and are thinking about their future. Samantha Fox’s peformance in the back seat of a moving car from The Love Syndrome is also included here. Other hard scenes include the cat fight/lesbo scene between Georgia Spelvin and Jessie St. James from EASY, a suck and fuck session between Dorothy Lemay, Chris Cassidy, and a bunch of guys in a pool hall from Garage Girls, plus a blow job scene and orgy scene from that film that features John Leslie and Suzanne French.
