John White, privy to the affairs of his boss Carlos Mancini and responsible for his bookkeeping, is said to be forced by prosecutor Flanaghan to testify against Mancini in court and thus to provide a means to indict and convict the syndicate boss. McNeil, who is a confidante of Mancini, induces the professional killer and psychopath Moore to kidnap White’s wife Susan, thereby silencing White. McNeil only appears to be working for Mancini, but in reality plans to use Moore as a straw man to run away with the ransom.
