German Trash Cult was a project by director, chef and professional pervert Christian Candini. Candini had been involved in the Production of Andreas Schaas`s Goblet of Gore and at the end of the nineties he ran the House of Horror, a shop specialized in Horror props in Hamburg. With the shop Candini served the german Gothic community with tons of fake vampire teeth and contact lenses, costumes and props. That was before online shopping was a common thing. Candini had been involved in the punk and DIY scene of Hamburg from the eighties on and also acted in several small German genre/amateur movies. After closing the House of Horror shop in 2000, he was looking for a new project to have fun with and earn some money on the side. So Candini decided to shoot some alt porn shorts, before the term alt porn had been established. DVD had been the common medium in 2000 and producing a DVD was cheap and possible. One man show Candini was not connected to the big players in the German porn biz and he did not want to. He just did it. He shot in the loft where he lived at that time, with amateurs he casted in a porn cinema, via adds in swinger magazines, etc. The crew also conatained a lot of first timers. I recall he had been more into decorating the sets, picking costumes and props than he was into shooting the actual sex scenes. In opposite to his creative potential Candini was not skilled when it came down to business and marketing his finished product. So this alternative take on porn came much to soon to a bitter end.
